When I began traveling, I expected to write extensively, and photograph lightly with my iPhone. Instead, I didn’t write at all, though I did take some images. Photography became more serious when I arrived at Sai Gon. The light, the bustle, the buildings, the street - i was inspired by all of it. Before long I’d purchased a camera proper, and after a month’s stay, I left and photographed other regions of Viet Nam. As I reviewed my images, I realized that they didn’t look like traditional travel photographs, nor was I interested in making typical travel imagery. Instead, I was photographing my feelings.
I’ve named these collected images “Mysterious Rhythms”. They’re entirely different from those I anticipated making, and they capture the feelings of my experiences more completely than my initial expectations ever would have.
